Santa Fe and color seem synonymous in my mind, so it was a no brainer to ask Jason Wilson if he wanted to share his work with us. To our great pleasure, he said yes! Jason has been a staple in the Oklahoma art scene for years and we are thrilled to introduce him to the Santa Fe art market.

As you may have noticed, Jason’s paintings are visually stunning, graphic geometrical works, using a personal masking technique along with a homemade acrylic paint. Inspired by the geometric, 3-D nature of his grandmother’s quilting, Jason’s images are a reflection of his childhood memories. “It’s a process of learning the interaction of colors, patterns and space. I want to provoke a reaction from the viewer. I have learned to let each painting stand on its own because sometimes people see in them something much better than I planned. I think it’s because viewers bring to the painting their own thoughts, influences and interactions.”

After achieving a bachelors in Art Education from Oklahoma Baptist University, Wilson began teaching art, and has been enriching the lives of young people for the past 25 years. Jason lives in McAlester, Oklahoma and can also be seen currently at Cameron University in Lawton, OK. You can check out more on his website and Instagram.
